About us
The Village Hall and playing field at Butley are owned by the residents of Butley, Chillesford, Wantisden and Capel St. Andrew.
The committee is elected each year at the annual general meeting and is made up of residents and representatives of local groups.
The purpose of the charity (Registration no.304723) is to provide a venue for activities and functions for the benefit of local communities. The site was donated to the local community by Sir Peter Greenwell in 1950 and the present village hall was constructed in the 1980s.
It is regularly used by local groups like Art Club and WI, as well as hosting a range of community events such as the annual Flower Show.
The hall and grounds make an ideal venue for social events and weddings. There is plenty of space for the erection of marquees and for sporting events. The children’s play area makes it particularly suitable for family gatherings and children’s parties.
Voluntary, commercial and public bodies are welcome to hire the hall for their own meetings or events on a regular or occasional basis.
